1. Who we are

LiveLingo is operated by Vertex Digital. For the personal data described here, Vertex Digital acts as the data controller: we decide what data is collected and why. Where we use suppliers to process data on our behalf, they act as our processors under contract.

2. Data we collect and why

  • Account data — email address, display name, sign-in credentials. Used to create and secure your account and identify you as a speaker. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Session content — the speech recognised from a speaker, its translation, and (on plans that include it) saved transcripts and glossary terms. Used to provide the live translation to session guests and to show your history. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
  • Usage and device data — pages visited, session and visitor identifiers, referring page, browser and device type, screen size, language, and IP address. Used to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, measure usage against plan limits, and improve the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — what you send us. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests and contract.
  • Marketing — if you opt in, your email address is used to send product updates. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Payment card details are collected and processed by Paddle, not by us — we never see or store your card number.

3. Guests and consent to translate

Guests can join a session with a code without creating an account. Speakers are responsible for telling the people present that speech is being transcribed and translated, and for obtaining any consent required where they are.

4. Who we share data with

  • Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database, authentication, speech and translation processing, and analytics tooling.
  • Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of our plans, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
  • Professional advisers such as legal and accounting firms, where needed.
  • Authorities, where we are required to disclose by law.

We do not sell personal data.

5. International transfers

Our suppliers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention

Account data is kept while your account is open and for a short period afterwards. Session transcripts are kept while your plan includes them, or until you delete them or close your account. Usage and analytics data is kept for up to 24 months. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons are kept for the required period. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access rules in our database, restricted administrative access, and audit logging of account and session events.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to your data protection authority. We respond to requests within one month. Contact us using the email address on your receipt or in the app.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember the session you are in, plus first-party analytics identifiers to count visits. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block storage in your browser settings, though sign-in will not work without the necessary items.
